Raskas rock (literally "heavy rock") is in many ways similar to regular heavy rock, but from Finnish perspective it is a phenomenon of its own, and is therefore categorized as a separate heavy subgenre. Raskas rock combines elements from heavy rock and the melancholy kind of generic rock ("suomirock") that is very popular in Finland, thus having wider audience than the more traditional heavy metal bands.
