HENKINEN KRAPULA
BIOGRAPHY

After his previous Suolahti-based band Neljä Miinus had broken up, and another project with Mopot-vocalist Teijo proved short-lived, Juha "Hämy" Hämynen formed Henkinen Krapula with a couple of new guys from Äänekoski in early 1980. The lineup was Ari "Öppä" Aho-vocals, Heikki "Sulo" Savonen-guitar, Simo Saikkonen-bass and Hämynen-drums. Their rehearsal place was in a former cowshed, and there they made a tape with a two-track tape recorder in summer 1980. The songs were played live, with no overdubs. The plan was to release the songs as an EP, but they didn't have the money for it, and as the band broke up a little later, the idea was buried. During that summer, Saikkonen quit the band, and he was replaced by Juha "Palpu" Rantapuro. Whether he had already joined the band when the tape was recorded is uncertain. Henkinen Krapula's story ended almost as soon as it had started, as Savonen moved away, and so the band broke up in late summer 1980 (before they had the chance to play their first live gig, scheduled for that fall). Fortunately, over a quarter of a century later, the tape was uncovered and the four songs were released on CD in 2008, and copies of the CD were given away for free for friends and acquaintances.

After Henkinen Krapula Hämynen played in various outfits in Äänekoski (most prominently Klaus Fleming), and a little later in capital area (Ollie & The Honeycandels). In the 2000's he joined Old Dudes. Savonen released a couple of singles with Kitarapartio in late 1980's and early 1990's, and Rantapuro's later activities include Bockhill Special.
